Sebastian Grunow

Senior Software Engineer

Sebastian is a passionate software developer and architect with a favour for cloud native solutions. With his problem solving mindset, he loves to dig into challenges and find fitting solutions that really tackle the issue at hand.

In his free time he loves to dive into the meditative peace in front of the fireplace. In order to balance out any stress from work, he to excercises regularly in the gym.

During summertime when the weather’s fine, he loves to take a ride on his bike. Sebastian enjoys inhaling nature while flying through the landscape.

With the age of 11 I bought my first programming book but stayed away from working as a professional developer for many years. Developing software and writing code really is a passion for me and I didn’t want to hurt it by working as a professional developer. In the year 2014 I eventually enrolled in university of applied sciences. Shortly after I found my first job at an internet agency where I worked part time in a dual study model.

In the time at the internet agency I learned a lot about developing software for customers. As part of the scrum team I was responsible for consultation, requirements engineering and implementation of over ten different software projects.

Over the years, I have grown into leadership roles, co-leading development teams, mentoring engineers, and actively shaping team culture through regular feedback sessions and individual development plans. Alongside my technical background, I have a strong interest in psychology — understanding what drives people, how teams function, and how to foster environments where individuals thrive both personally and professionally.

Beyond my professional work, I am deeply invested in artificial intelligence — both as a core part of my career and as a personal pursuit. I continuously explore the latest advancements, from agentic coding and intelligent automation to building AI-powered products. Additionally, I am developing an app in the personal care and wellness space, combining my technical expertise with a genuine passion for health and well-being.

My Skills

A little overview

In the past years I have worked on several projects with a lot of different techniques. The skills presented here are those I am most comfortable with to sell to clients. I am always learning and continue to improve other skills or learn something entirely new. Besides having an eye for quickly understanding challenging situations, I am a quick learner. Currently I improve my skills in the Rust language and learned Terraform within a week on-the-job.

My Experience

An excerpt of my working experience

Tricept Informations-systeme AG

Jul 2024 - Present

Senior Software Engineer

At Tricept, I shape the technical direction of RIMAGO, an enterprise platform used by banks and savings institutions for risk assessment, management, and governance. My work spans the full spectrum — from designing backend architectures in C#/.NET and SQL Server to building and automating deployment pipelines that meet the stringent regulatory demands of the financial sector.

A major focus of my role is driving AI innovation within the company. I built an internal AI platform with a comprehensive knowledge base to enhance collaboration across teams and integrated a specialized AI chatbot into RIMAGO that provides instant, documentation-based support to end users — all while upholding the highest standards of data security.

I lead the development of TRI HUB, a secure document sharing platform that enables financial institutes and service providers to exchange critical compliance and regulatory documents. The platform is designed with AI-readiness at its core, with intelligent features on the roadmap to further streamline document workflows.

Additionally, I head the internal operations and SaaS team, ensuring our infrastructure and cloud offerings run reliably and efficiently. Beyond the technical side, I co-lead the development team alongside the board, shaping individual growth paths, conducting feedback sessions, and ensuring the team thrives both professionally and personally.

Sep 2014 - Jul 2020

Software Engineer

As part of a scrum team my tasks were, including but not limited to, requirements engineering, conceptualization and consulting. Most of the projects were based on the CMS solutions Kentico and Sitecore. But we also developed custom solutions and apps for various customers. My main responsibility was backend code, but I also implemented several frontends according to designer specs.

This is where I learned to quickly work myself into new problems and challenges and find solutions within budget. The projects were quite diverse, so I had to adapt on a daily basis. My tasks in this team included:

● Requirements Engineering and Conceptualization for customers.
● Consulting for new features and updates.
● Concepts for architectures of new solutions anmd features.
● Maintenance and improvement of code developed for customers as part of the scrum routine.
● Connect third party services (Payment, Newsletter, Jobportals, DAM solutions, etc.)
● Decisions for third party tools and libraries (open source, licenses, reading documentation, etc..)
● Creating user-aware solutions for CMS systems so editors have an easy life
● Customization of CMS systems
